Description

Experiment this time - gouache and acrylic. I like the combo, though I haven't been able to find out much about its durability. Google seems to suggest that the main problem is getting the gouache to flow over the acrylic, but that seems ok.

The paint's aren't mixed - the gouache is getting covered by a layer of acrylic medium every now and then. The gouache has a tendency to bleed when the acrylic medium goes over it, but I quite like this and wouldn't mind it happening more. I think this combo would last, but if anyone has any thoughts, I'd love to hear. The thinking behind it is that gouache is easier to manipulate with smaller details (and won't knacker the sable-like brushes), whereas acrylic can cover large areas quickly.

Don't know about the durability, but a coat of varnish would probably protect the paint anyway. Maybe you should just make some test paintings and expose them to various temperatures and conditions to see how well it lasts. Either way nice job! It's hard to get those details in acrylics yea
